OUR STORY

A Mother- Daughter Duo

Inspired by the memories made by two sets of homesteading grandparents, our farm started out as a simple desire to provide healthy food for our table. Fresh raw milk, eggs laid by happy hens, meat and produce grown without chemicals were important to us - so we did it ourselves. Our friends and family became interested - which began our journey to grow and raise enough to share.

The Things That Matter

Thoughts from Heidi

Homesteading and self sufficiency is something that has been part of my make up for many years. It started as an adventure, and morphed into purpose. By raising the food on our table ourselves, we know what has gone into it and hold a higher value for it. A vegetable or slice of meat that has taken months to nurture and sacrifice to maintain is more likely to be fully utilized and appreciated than a cheap substitute from a store. Seeing the horrible conditions that commodity and factory farming creates made me determined to do whatever I could to not support those industries and to create a healthier alternative for my family.

Knowing the chicken in my oven and the eggs in my omelet were raised/laid with open air, freedom to move, quality food, and healthy conditions makes all the difference.

Many are not able to raise their own food, so I believe they should be encouraged to support local farmers who make the health and happiness of their livestock and the health of their environment a priority. This way, they are investing in the health of their own local economy as well as their personal health. Their food is not shipped hundreds of miles, but readily available and truly fresh.

So, buying eggs or meat from our farm makes a difference. It in an investment in our local economy and the health of our local environment. It is also and investment in the health of your family, knowing the food you are eating has been raised with integrity. And, it is an investment in our local community, for no farm stands alone. We are part of a close knit community who rely on each other for quality products and a helping hand.

Thank you!
